Asthon Spurr fanned 13 batters on Wednesday night as he eclipsed 200 career strikeouts, helping the Vikings to their first win over Paducah Tilghman since 2021, 3-1.

In the first half of a Second District home-and-home set, the St. Mary Vikings scored a key victory on their home field, as early runs and 13 strikeouts for Ashton Spurr powered them to their first win over Paducah Tilghman since 2021, 3-1.

“The Second District is as tough as it gets, there’s great competition here, and any time you can pick up a win in this district builds up confidence,†said St. Mary head coach Chris Haas, reflecting on the win. “We have to keep an even keel, we have the same challenge tomorrow so there’s certainly work to do, but I’m super proud of the guys for their effort.â€
