After a spring of constant and heavy rains, it is appropriate that the newest Hydrangea arborescens* is named 鈥淪torm Proof.鈥 It was so named for its strong stems that support its blooms even during and after heavy rainstorms.
The soft yellow green, blinky glow of these little insects of summer doesn't come anywhere close to resembling bolts of lightning. And the bugs are dead silent, the farthest thing from thunder that accompanies the explosive electrical discharges for which they are named.
