CALVERT CITY — The Rev. Wendell Ordway, a faith-filled, loving, and thoughtful Christian servant, passed away on April 12, 2026, in Calvert City. He was born on Oct. 27, 1933, in Crittenden County, and lived a life marked by devotion to God, family, education, and service to others.
Wendell was known by many simply as Wendell, and he carried himself with quiet strength, humility, and compassion throughout his long life. He devoted 75 years to the ministry as a Cumberland Presbyterian Minister, faithfully preaching, teaching, and shepherding congregations with a steady and caring spirit. He retired from Vaughn’s Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church after a lifetime of service, and he preached his last sermon in August of 2025 at Piney Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church, closing his ministry as he had lived it, with grace and dedication.
