"Within Our Gates" is the oldest known surviving film by an African American filmmaker — director Oscar Micheaux was born in Metropolis, IL, in 1884.

After being lost, found, reconstructed, and given new life by local musicians, this film will be showing at Maiden Alley Cinema tonight at 7 p.m.
