On Tuesday night, cross-town rivals faced off on the softball diamond, as the Graves County Lady Eagles played host to the Mayfield Lady Cardinals for the second installment of Battle of the Birds. In their first of their two regular season meetings back at the end of March, the Lady Eagles were dominant, knocking off Mayfield 10-0 in six innings. This time around, Graves were even more efficient, picking up another 10-0 win over the Lady Cardinals over the course of five innings for their second straight victory.
Senior ace Anna Rogers got the start and the win for the Lady Eagles, pitching all five innings, allowing only two hits while striking out three. Fellow senior Bailey Wimsatt had a perfect outing at the plate, batting 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Ginger Martin put together a 2-for-4, one RBI night out of the leadoff spot. Anna Davis drove in a pair of runs as part of a 1-for-2 showing, wihile Hadley Hayden went 2-for-3. Brooklyn Cole and Payton Hayden each recorded a knock on the evening, as well.
