St. Mary’s Andrew Puckett’s .578 batting average and 1.022 slugging percentage are amongst the best in the state, as the Vikings hold the 10th best team average at .360.

With the 2025-26 baseball season now heading into the home stretch, several athletes from the KHSAA’s First Region have made major impacts for their team, and rank among the best Kentucky has to offer in multiple statistical categories.

Sitting with a record of 13-2 heading into Wednesday, the St. Mary Vikings have impressed at the plate this year, with multiple Vikings putting up some of the state’s best numbers. Hitting for a team batting average of .360, the tenth best mark in the state, they’ve been led by a .578 stretch for Andrew Puckett, who currently holds Kentucky’s fifth best average. Puckett’s 1.022 slugging percentage also ranks as the 12th best, while his brother Avery’s .458 average also sees him crack the top 50, checking in at 41st.

Caden Kern

McCracken County senior Caden Kern is amongst Kentucky’s best with an 0.87 ERA, earning five wins on the season as well for the Mustangs.

Kobe Yamauchi

Hickman junior Kobe Yamauchi leads the state in both wins and innings pitched, while also maintaining the fourth best ERA at 0.42.
