This year the dogwoods are outdoing themselves, and how appropriate, as Paducah is celebrating the 60th year of the lighted Dogwood Trail. The daytime trail is a fairyland of dogwoods and other blooming trees, shrubs, and flowers. It is at night that the lighted dogwoods really standout.

Spotlighting the trees brings out the dogwoods’ beauty. To spectacularly highlight them takes a little planning and the right equipment. That includes spotlights and holders, outdoor extension cords, and light shields. Optional are automatic timers — indoor, outdoor or combination — and surge protectors. The initial investment may seem expensive, but all the equipment is usable throughout the year.
