Recent reports show farm bankruptcies have hit a six-year high, according to data from Epiq AACER. Many farmers in the region say they have felt financial strain, blaming rising input costs.

Inputs such as fertilizer and fuel have risen sharply in price due to disruptions to global shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz. With the routes being restricted or closed, vessels are forced to travel longer, resulting in higher rates. This has impacted agricultural inputs and placed financial pressure on crop profitability.
