A new Kentucky law regarding sextortion creates stiffer penalties for offenders and requires schools to notify students about the issue.

Kentucky Senate Bill 73 was introduced in January and was signed into law on Wednesday, March 12, by Gov. Andy Beshear after winning passage in the Kentucky General Assembly. The law makes the crime of “sextortion,†as a felony, classifies it as a sex crime and requires grade schools and postsecondary institutions to display posters on the issue and resources available to victims.
