The North Marshall Water District responded to concerns earlier this year regarding higher than average levels of chemical contaminants in the water. One well that served 650 people was closed.

MARSHALL COUNTY — Earlier this year the North Marshall Water District was experiencing higher than average levels of chemical contaminants. The issue has been resolved and the water is safe to consume, and has been unaffected since at least October.

In March, the EPA proposed new drinking water regulations in an attempt to ensure drinking water is safe. While the regulations are not yet approved, North Marshall Water District discovered higher than recommended levels of chemicals — collectively known as PFAS, which is short for polyfluoroalkyl substances — and took action to make sure the water is safe.
