“It’s what they call insanity, you know, expecting different results when you’re doing the same thing,†Jackson Hawes said. Hawes said his life has changed for the better because of the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office’s Badges of Hope program.

The sheriff’s office started Badges of Hope to help people who are struggling with substance abuse. People grappling with addiction or going through a crisis can call and get help without fear of getting into trouble with the law. People who call won’t be arrested unless they have outstanding warrants. Law enforcement officers coordinate transportation to take the person seeking help to a treatment facility.
