METROPOLIS, Ill. — About 500 people enjoyed heaping servings of food at the annual St. John Lutheran Church Ice Cream Social late Thursday afternoon.
The church bought about 500 pounds of pork, 150 pounds of burgers, and vast amounts of hot dogs and bratwursts. Everyone wanted part of the 300 gallons of ice cream hand-made for the event.
