State Sen. Chris McDaniel says he will continue to seek an amendment on gubernatorial pardon power.

FRANKFORT — State Sen. Chris McDaniel, R-Ryland Heights, says he will continue his multi-year effort to reform unlimited gubernatorial pardon power in Kentucky, during the 2026 legislative session, which begins Jan. 6.

The proposed constitutional amendment would prohibit a governor from issuing pardons or commuting sentences during the 60-day period before a gubernatorial election.
