The prestigious Peabody Award is considered by many as the highest honor in media, and one recent winner’s journey to this pinnacle began locally. Graves County High School alum Rachel Coleman was recognized Saturday in Los Angeles for her work on a major investigative news story.

After graduating from Murray State University with a degree in journalism, Coleman began her career in 2002 at WPSD Local 6 in Paducah. She served as a camera operator and photojournalist before moving to Kansas City, Missouri, in 2006 to work at the KMBC news station
