“I think everybody is in agreement, our people are our most important asset,†Judge Executive Craig Clymer said. “So our determination of what to pay them is not only, I think, the most important thing that we’ll decide this time, but it is the largest line item.â€
“This is the largest salary increase we’ve ever done,†Commissioner Eddie Jones said. “We’ve cut taxes, we don’t know how much that’s going to affect resolution, I’m guessing it’s a million. In our second budget meeting, we discovered that we’d been given a number by somebody, and that number did not include benefits. Even the judge was not aware of that, so I just feel like this is rushed.â€

County Clerk Jamie Huskey makes the case for more pay, new security cameras and blinds to prevent fraud for her department.
The McCracken County Fiscal Court continued discussion of county employee pay and department allotments at a called budget workshop meeting Friday, once again falling short of agreement on the subject.
During the last fiscal court meeting on April 13, Judge Executive Craig Clymer introduced a motion that included a 10.7% raise for all county employees in the next fiscal budget for the county. The motion did not pass and sparked debate among commissioners about wage increases that continued into Friday’s budget workshop.
