The temperature began to drop Friday evening in Paducah, with extreme cold in the forecast for the weekend and into next week. The low temperatures expected are causing some concern from local leaders about ¶¶ÒõÖ±²¥Èí¼þ’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations.

The Paducah-McCracken County NAACP, Murray State University, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and John A. Logan College in Carterville, Illinois, still plan to have their events.

Participants in the NAACP’s 2023 Martin Luther King Jr. Day March walk from the Robert Cherry Civic Center to the MLK memorial at 21st Street. Despite cold weather in the forecast on ¶¶ÒõÖ±²¥Èí¼þ, organizers said they plan to hold the 2024 march as usual.
