Baptist Health Paducah received the Kentucky Hospital Association Quality Award in the category Acute Care Hospital, over 250 beds. The award recognizes the hospital’s 3-D tactile educational tool that assists in lung cancer education and awareness. The hospital collaborated with West Kentucky Community and Technical College to design the model. According to the hospital, the educational tool allows patients to physically feel lung nodules, increasing their knowledge of screening criteria for early detection of cancer. Baptist Health Paducah has been able to diagnose more patients in the early stages of lung cancer because of the innovative tool.
