Old-fashioned flowers remain popular. They have been updated, giving us a choice of old, new or both.

The flowers that were once very popular are today often referred to as old-fashioned, and are gaining popularity once more. One reason is the increase in gardening. For many, it is family stories and events associated with a favorite hand-me-down through several generations, easy to grow, or simply charming.

Popular in the 1920-30s flower garden plants particularly included daylilies, hollyhocks, hydrangeas (blue/pink depending on soil acidity), iris (purple and brown), pansies, magic lilies, peonies, and roses. Annuals were among the most planted.
