Ispent an hour or so yesterday putting seeds in the dirt. I fully expect that, from those tiny seeds, nourishment will come in a couple of months. Driving through farmland, one sees fields in various states of sowing or very early growth. It happens every year at this time, and every year at this time, I am still amazed.

I just stepped outside into a day in which the air is heavy with moisture. It is not hot, but the warmth that there is lingers — even with a strong wind. That strong wind is blowing all sorts of seeds through the air. They will land far from the plant that produced them. They do not know where they are going, but when they get there, they will do what they are designed to do. They will die, and from them will grow new life.
