Tasha Tudor is best known for her children’s story illustrations, such as “The Secret Garden.†Though born in 1915, she was known for her early 1830s lifestyle that included sharing her abundance of flower and vegetable gardens.

Making and sharing May Baskets was an annual tradition for family and friends. Simple enough for children to make, the baskets were paper rolled into cones that then were filled with garden flowers and hung on doors. Often the flower baskets were secretly left on doors as surprises.
