Trees do not just beautify our homes and increase their value. Primarily, they produce oxygen and purify it, without which we could not exist. They also conserve water, prevent erosion, provide wildlife habitat, cool our communities and reduce stress.

Tomorrow we will celebrate the importance of trees, which should not be limited to just one day, but every day. Trees do not just beautify our homes and increase their value. Primarily, they produce oxygen and purify it, without which we could not exist. They also conserve water, prevent erosion, provide wildlife habitat, cool our communities and reduce stress.

Which trees are best suited for our yards and public spaces, and where should we plant and maintain healthy trees? The answers came from Paducah Tree Board Chair Jonathan E. Perkins, certified landscape architect. The board has developed an excellent list of trees appropriate for Paducah and where to plant and not to plant.
