The first competition was held in 2022. It’s called the Chalkalypse, but this year’s event was appropriately dubbed The Chalk-Eclipse.
Students in Southern Illinois have been finding ways to celebrate the eclipse before it arrives. That included an eclipse-themed chalk art competition at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
The competition has been held every year since 2022, but the contest held Friday was made special by the fact that it was held so close to eclipse day 2024. It’s called the Chalkalypse, but this year’s event was appropriately dubbed The Chalk-Eclipse. The theme encouraged participants to incorporate eclipse-themed imagery in their artwork.
