In our world of innovation and new technologies, it is easy to forget the value of repetition. Repetition is necessary for mastery of any valuable skill. Enough repetition soaks into our minds and our muscles so much that we can learn to do hard things without thinking too much. It is then that we can “make it look easy.†That is when we can enjoy it, and others can reap the benefit. The strength that comes from repetition is what enables us to accomplish goals that are beyond the skills that we have acquired.
Repetition is also vital to our spiritual lives. Most Christians have a favorite book or chapter of the Bible. Most have a few stories that relate well to their lives. Those favorites play a role in forming our faith. They become the lens through which we interpret the rest of the Bible and the world.
